Pardina Lentils Explode UpwardVANCOUVER - Nov 17/06 - SNS -- Lentil markets finished the week mixed in relatively light trade on North American markets. Green lentils were also mixed on the week, with Canadian markets unchanged, and U.S. firmer in Montana and North Dakota, but easier in the Pacific Northwest. Red lentils were little changed. The spread between green lentil markets in the U.S. midwest and Pacific Northwest narrowed on the week. Whole green lentils in Montana and North Dakota jumped from $111 to $13 cwt; while prices in the U.S. Pacific Northwest slipped from $18 to $17.50. By contrast, tightening stocks of Spanish brown or Pardina lentils forced that market higher at both the grower and inter-dealer level in the United States during the past week.
