Tightening U.S. Processing Helps PeasVANCOUVER - Nov 10/06 - SNS -- Markets for human consumption quality field peas finished the week's trading on a firm note against tightening processing capacity in the United States and good export movement from Canada. The USDA is finding it increasingly difficult to secure split peas on PL-480 food aid tenders. On its November 3 tender, it did not received offers of 1,500 metric tons (MT) of yellow split peas and rejected offers on 5,070 MT, claiming asking prices were too high. It followed up with a tender in which it was again trying to buy those peas, only extending the tender to include whole and split green peas. On November 9, the USDA announced it was unable to buy the full quantity because there were no offers of 2,360 MT of split green peas.
