Australian Chickpeas Controversial
VANCOUVER - Nov 10/06 - SNS -- Chickpea markets remain strong in the face of solid demand for all classes of product and rampant speculation over the degree to which Australian yields have fallen from last year.
Some market participants are dismayed by indications yields are down just 20% from last year; while they are expected to sink 65% for field peas and 81% for lupins.
They believe chickpea crops should come in smaller than indicated unless declines for other crops are overstated.
