Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Sep 22/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY Nil. STATE FORECAST for Monday Fine almost throughout. Isolated showers in the southeast corner of the state, with possible local thunder. Hot in western districts and the central interior, with moderate W/NW winds. Elsewhere generally light to moderate southeast to northeast winds, with seabreezes near the coast. Very high fire danger in the NW and SE districts. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Generally fine weather is expected through most of Queensland for the outlook period. On Tuesday very warm to hot NW/NE winds are expected over western districts, the central interior and southeast districts, producing maximum temperatures 5 to 10 degrees above average, tempered by seabreezes near the coast. Fire dangers are expected to be very high. As a high builds in the Coral Sea SE trade winds are expected to increase over the Northern Tropical coast late Tuesday and increase further during Wednesday. On Wednesday a slow moving trough is expected to persist over the central interior and continue to direct very warm to hot northerly winds over districts to the east of the trough. At this stage it seems too dry for this trough to produce any rain. In the far SW a weak SE change may reduce temperatures. This trough remains slow moving through central interior on Thursday and it may gain enough moisture to produce some isolated afternoon showers over the south-central interior. --- STAT News Service The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
