Canadian Lentils Lead Markets HigherVANCOUVER - Sep 20/02 - STAT -- Canadian lentil markets continued to lead international markets higher during the past week. Deepening concern about the impact this year's drought and slow, cool and damp harvest will have on yields and quality remains a key issue in Canadian markets. This was reflected in the fact bids for No 1 grade large green, or Laird lentils advanced to a new high. Canada's internal market finished the week with growers seeing bids ranging up to CDN $32.50 per 100 pounds (cwt) for farmers dressed product in bulk delivered western Canadian processing plants.
