Chickpeas Holding FirmVANCOUVER - Oct 20/06 - SNS -- International chickpea markets held firm during the past week, with demand remaining slightly ahead of supplies available from major exporters. This allowed markets for most classes of kabuli chickpeas to firm on the week, especially for the mid-sizes, which are attracting more interest because of their favorable values. Desi chickpeas were also firm on the week, reflecting doubts about the size of Australia's crop and enthusiasm for demand prospects on the Indian subcontinent.
