Australian Livestock Auction Action TumblesSYDNEY - Oct 20/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd fell during the past week on a massive drop in sheep and lamb sales. Throughput for the week totalled 25,084 sheep and lambs, versus 54,150 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 1,686, compared to 3,490 last week. "Numbers more than halved this week, which was in line with most physical markets," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "With barely a sniff of rain, but half the numbers, market segments gyrated quite fiercely. Cows were greatly improved and better lines of store steers were dearer than equivalent cattle last week."
