USDA Buys for 2,690 MT Pulses
KANSAS CITY - Oct 18/06 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 2,690 metric tons (MT) of pulses for shipment as food aid.
In announcing purchases made under terms of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 106A, the USDA said it received no offers for 60 MT of peas, 20 MT of lentils and 2,820 MT of red lentils. The invitation had sought 3,380 MT of red lentils; 60 MT of peas; and 1,780 MT of any class of lentils.
Prices paid on the tender were up sharply for lentils and down sharply for the dark red kidney beans.
