Australian Livestock Auction Action JumpsSYDNEY - Oct 13/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd jumped during the past week on a massive increase in sheep and lambs. Throughput for the week totalled 54,150 sheep and lambs, versus 21,114 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 3,490, compared to 5,727 last week. "Again passed-in rates were extremely high with the usual drought procedure of selling some lots post sale, this week though, a significant number failed to sell at all," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "When markets reach this point of melt down, free fall or whatever adequately describes it, there usually are a number of contributing factors."
