AWB Boosts Projected Pool Returns

SYDNEY - Oct 9/06 - SNS -- The Australian wheat marketing board, AWB Limited, lifted projected returns for its 2005-06 and 2006-07 wheat marketing pools.

The Estimated Pool Returns (EPR) ranging from A$5 - $12 per metric ton (MT) for the 2006-07 pools. Changes include a $5 MT - $8 MT increase for the majority of bread and noodle wheat grades, with benchmark APW up $8 MT to $240 MT. Durum wheat grades were increased by $8 MT - $12 MT, while the Feed grade was increased $10 MT to $195 MT.

The majority of 2005-06 EPRs have also been increased by $1 MT - $3 MT, with benchmark APW now estimated as $191 MT.

Acting General Manager National Pool David Johnson said a combination of domestic sales and international demand for hard wheat has resulted in the fourth consecutive increase for new season estimates.
