Malay CPO Output Up 12% in AugustKUALA LUMPUR - Oct 8/06 - SNS -- Crude palm oil (CPO) production in Malaysia rose 12% to 1.5 million metric tons (MT) in August 2006, according to the Malaysian Palm Oil Board (MPOB). While output in Peninsular Malaysia increased by 9.4%, East Malaysia's production surged 15.6% higher than the previous month. Compared to August 2005, output during August 2006 was 13% higher. CPO output is expected to increase further by 5 to 6% bringing the total CPO output for 2005-06 close to predictions by the U.S. agricultural attache for the country that it would reach 15.5 million MT.
