Firm Tone in BirdseedsVANCOUVER - Oct 6/06 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets in North America maintained their firm tone during the past week. Markets were helped by reluctant selling by Canadian canaryseed growers and a rapid increase in white proso millet markets in the United States. They finished the week up 75 cents at a nominal U.S. $8.50 per 100 pounds (cwt) for recleaned product on interdealer markets as grower bids topped out at $7.75 cwt in the U.S. midwest. Canadian canaryseed growers remain reluctant sellers at current prices, forcing markets to ignore season opening supply fundamentals.
