Mixed Finish For Bean MarketsVANCOUVER - Oct 6/06 - SNS -- North American dry edible beans recorded a mixed finish during the past week, as reflected in a modest four point decline in the U.S. spot market index to 798. By contrast, the grower index gained 15 points on the week to close at 699 mainly due to stronger pinto bean bids. Processors are looking for continued good demand by Mexico in the coming months, as well as experiencing improved interest in larger caliber white beans from buyers in the Mediterranean, Algeria and the Middle East. This year's harvest is starting to wind down in North Dakota, Minnesota and Washington; while it is past the 75% mark in Colorado and Michigan; and approaching 75% complete in Nebraska.
