Peas Maintain StrengthVANCOUVER - Oct 6/06 - SNS -- International field pea markets continued to strengthen through the past week against steady export demand from the Indian subcontinent. There is a strong perception that movement to the Indian subcontinent is running ahead of last year; but export clearances so far this season do not entirely support that point of view. Export clearances in September were up sharply over last year, with movement of mainly food grade peas through Vancouver totalling 208,351 metric tons (MT); while feed pea clearances through Thunder Bay appear to have been about the same as last year at around 20,000 MT.
