Feed Peas Mixed on Slack DemandVANCOUVER - Oct 6/06 - SNS -- International feed pea markets ended the week on a mixed note against lackluster demand -- despite strength in markets for some key, competitive ingredients. Short crops in producing regions such as Europe, Canada and Australia have combined with production shortfalls on the Indian subcontinent and in some African and Middle Eastern destinations to divert attention from feed to food markets. This has forced feed pea bids to advance to levels which have generally uncompetitive since January. STAT Market Research's feed pea to soybean meal price ratyion has consistently genetared a do not buy signal since the first week of January. While the formula used for this calculation is somewhat controversial, it can be a barometer of the likelihood feed pea demand will trend lower or higher.
