Australian Livestock Auction Action FallsSYDNEY - Oct 6/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd fell during the past week on declines in offerings of sheep, lambs and cattle. Throughput for the week totalled 21,114 sheep and lambs, versus 31,320 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 5,727, compared to 6,630 last week. "Sheep and lamb throughput fell again this week. . . The principle reason for this is the drop in Queensland numbers," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "It's a good thing there are pockets of feed there as the freight on light slaughter sheep would decimate that segment of the market. It's a great shame as one of the reasons producers are having to take such low prices for sheep is the lack of kill space." Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
