Mixed Performance on Lentil MarketsVANCOUVER - Sep 29/06 - SNS -- North American lentils registered a mixed performance during the past week, with prices in the United States continuing to be strongly influenced by grower participation in the U.S. loan deficiency program. So far this season, they have requested LDPs totalling U.S. $9.5 million on 85,122 metric tons (MT); compared to $2.22 million on 58,769 MT during the entire 2005-06 marketing year. By contrast, the quantity of lentils placed under loan totals 18,498 MT so far this season, compared to 36,886 MT at this time last year.
