USDA Finds More Minor Oilseeds on HandWASHINGTON - Sep 29/06 - SNS -- Ending supplies of minor oilseeds and sunflower are up sharply over last year because of a massive increase in available supplies of sunflower seed, a higher ending stock for safflower and lower mustard seed numbers. The USDA's stocks in all positions report revealed sunflower ending stocks were nearly four times larger than last year at 781 million pounds or 354,324 metric tons (MT). Stocks of oil type sunflower seed are 598 million pounds or 271,178 MT. Confectionary sunflower stocks totaled 183 million pounds or 83,145 MT.
