GDT Considers Ethanol PlantSASKATOON - Sep 26/06 - SNS -- Saskatchewan's Gardiner Dam Terminal Ltd. (GDT Ltd.) proceeding to the business-planning phase of a 100 million liter grain-based ethanol plant. Directors of Gardiner Dam Terminal Ltd. support this project as a logical way to add value for shareholders and customers. In a press statement, the company said, "Improving profitability of primary producers is a priority for Gardiner Dam Terminal Ltd. in order to secure the long-term viability of the business. The proposed facility will allow producers to participate in profits through ownership in the project in addition to growing and delivering higher-margin crops." The company said research by the National Corn Growers of America :shows that farmer-owned ethanol plants contribute up to 56% more to the local community than absentee-owned corporate plants. GDT Ltd. has a 50% share of Gardiner Dam Terminal Joint Venture, an inland grain terminal.
