Food Pea Markets Gather MomentumVANCOUVER - Sep 22/06 - SNS -- International field pea markets continue to gather momentum during the past week, driven by good demand and reluctant grower selling. This was most evident in Canada and Australia, where markets for both commodities posted solid gains on the week. Australia was helped by confirmation of severe decline in total pulse production, led by lupins and field peas. That news help steady the resolve of Canadian growers who are enjoying what amounts to a bidding war for their chickpeas and field peas. While posted prices are little changed on the week, most companies appear willing to follow growers up based on bids they are receiving from competitors.
