Australian Livestock Auction Action JumpsSYDNEY - Sep 22/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd rose during the past week on strong gains in cattle, sheep and lamb offerings. Throughput for the week totalled 36,300 sheep and lambs, up from 30,648 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 6,112, compared to 3,480 last week. "Numbers rose again this week . . . with the inevitable result. Price reductions were more significant for sheep and lambs and though cattle, price wise today were all over the ship as with last week, odd sales were very good," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Most sheep abattoirs are full to the gunnels for at least a week and up to three, which is going to have a grave impact on values in that time if we don't receive rain."
