USDA Buys for 14,910 MT PulsesKANSAS CITY - Sep 20/06 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 14,910 metric tons (MT) of pulses for shipment in November. Under terms of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 096B, the USDA bought the pulses for shipment from origin between October 21 and November 12; or from plants located at port between November 12 and December 5. The tender was interesting because it is the first time the USDA has sought red lentils, requesting offers for 3,550 MT, but only buying 2,610 MT because there were not enough offers. It also bought 700 MT of any class of lentils; and 5,390 MT of dry edible beans. Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
