Edible Beans Transition to New CropVANCOUVER - Sep 15/06 - SNS -- U.S. dry edible bean markets made the transition from old to new crop pricing during the week as harvest expanded across much of the growing area. However, processors were not eager sellers because of reports of quality problems in parts of the growing area. Processors were pleased, however, by the USDA's purchase of 1,690 metric tons (MT) of beans during the week for shipment as food aid November. This follows last week's USDA PL-480 food aid tender, which included requests for offers of 2,360 MT of pinto beans for November shipment, and last week's purchase of 660 MT of pinto beans for October shipment.
