Australian Pulse Output Expected to PlungeVANCOUVER - Sep 15/06 - SNS -- International chickpea markets were little changed on the week against ongoing demand from the Indian subcontinent for small caliber chickpeas and tight stocks of large caliber product. Markets were surprised Friday by predictions from Pulse Australia that chickpea production in its country would be up significantly this year. Initial forecasts called for little change in seeded area, with the result many market participants were looking for a potentially smaller crop because of the El Nino event which is now underway in the region.
