USDA Buys for 1,690 MT BeansKANSAS CITY - Sep 14/06 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 1,690 metric tons (MT) of dry edible beans for prepositioning at Gulf ports for use in forthcoming aid programs. Under terms of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 096A, the USDA bought the beans for shipment between October 21 and November 12 from inland plants or between November 12 and December 5 from plants located at the port. The tender had requested offers of 300 MT of pinto and,black beans. That part of the tender was covered by pinto beans because the USDA is obliged to buy the lowest priced product offered.
