More Ample U.S. Milk SupplyWASHINGTON - Sep 12/06 - SNS -- Marginal increases in milk production are expected in both 2006 and 2007 compared to last months estimates, according to the latest report from the USDA's World Agricultural Outlook Board. The milk production forecast for 2006 is raised from last month primarily due to a smaller-than-expected impact from hot weather on milk per cow. Milk production for 2007 is raised slightly. Despite higher forecast production, relatively strong demand for cheese is helping support prices. However, butter supplies are relatively large and prices are weaker than previously expected.
