Chickpea Markets StrengthenVANCOUVER - Sep 8/06 - SNS -- Chickpea markets continued to strengthen through the past week, with values for all sizes of kabuli and desi chickpeas experiencing solid international demand. Rain damage to some of India's summer or kharif season crops has combined with a short winter or rabi season harvest to stimulate additional import demand heading into the fall period. India does not grow many chickpeas in the summer, but with several states reporting problems other pulses, traders are starting to work world markets in search of alternate sources of supply.
