Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 12/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Weather Pattern
A large high pressure system will move slowly across the Tasman Sea over the
next few days. On Saturday a warm northerly airflow will freshen over Victoria
as a low pressure system deepens south of Western Australia. This deep low
should move southeastwards to be well south of the Bight on Sunday and south of
Tasmania on Monday. 
Victoria
Tonight and Friday: Fine tonight. Isolated morning fogs in Gippsland and
isolated showers developing in the southwest but mainly fine. Early frosts in
the east then a mild to warm and cloudy day with northerly wind freshening in
the west. Afternoon coastal seabreezes in the east.
UV Index: 6 [High] reduced to 2 [moderate] under cloud. 
Saturday:  Fine, although cloud increasing. Northerly wind strengthening. Mild
to warm.
Sunday:    Warm and windy. Generally dry. Patchy rain possible in the far west
later.
Monday:    Patchy rain extending to the east. Cooler change. Wind easing later.

Tonight and Friday
High cloud increasing overnight but remaining fine and mostly cloudy. Light
winds tending northerly tonight and freshening tomorrow.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Friday: Variable wind to 10 knots tending northerly tonight and
increasing to 15 to 20 knots tomorrow morning. Waves rising to 1 to 1.5 metres.
Saturday:  Northerly winds 15 to 20 knots increasing to 25 to 30 knots during
the day.
Sunday:    Northerly winds of 25 to 35 knots.
Monday:    Northerly wind of 25 to 30 knots shifting west to southwesterly and
easing to 15 to 20 knots later.
Headline Melbourne: Fine. Cloud increasing.
Headline Victoria:  Isolated showers in the southwest. Early fog and frosts.
