Australian Livestock Auction Action DropsSYDNEY - Sep 8/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd fell during the past week on declines in cattle offset gains in sheep and lamb offerings. Throughput for the week totalled 17,180 sheep and lambs, up from 16,786 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 3,591, compared to 4,233 last week. "Sheep and lamb numbers remained on the low side again this week," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Numbers of sheep and lambs were scarcer in physical markets as well, and on Tuesday we noticed a bit more energy in the market and by Thursday mutton sheep had gained $5, and $10 and more for lambs "Some rains and more promised for the weekend should keep the sheep market heading in a positive direction and suckers in a lot of areas will have to be shorn due to seasonal conditions which will limit numbers for immediate slaughter to some degree."
