Domestic shipment: Offers, fob mills, milled rice, spot prices, dollars per
cwt, bagged. (All milled rice grade No 2 not to exceed 4 percent brokens,
except California grade No 1. All second heads grade No 4 or better, second
head and brewers are bulk.)

Domestic Situation
Domestic milled rice price quotes in the south were mostly steady; in
California mostly steady. By-products were steady to higher in the south; steady
in California. Market remains uneasy after reports of trace amounts of
genetically engineered rice were discovered in southern long grain rice and
recent rice stocks report came in higher than anticipated causing the futures
market to drop drastically. Domestic market have been quoted as business as
usual and as of yet remain unfazed by current market developments.
In the south, long grain rice prices were mostly steady, quoted mostly at
19.00-19.25; medium grain prices were steady, quoted mostly at 21.00-22.00;
parboiled rice prices were steady, quoted mostly from 20.00-25.00; second heads
were steady, quoted mostly at 11.00; brewers were steady, quoted mostly from
9.75-10.00. Rice by-products: Offers for rice bran were steady to 10.00 higher.
Wide price range continues in Arkansas for bran as supplies are tight and
difficult to find at best with quotes mostly at 65.00-68.00. Millfeed was steady
in a lightly tested trade; hulls were steady.
In California, medium grain milled rice prices were steady, instances 2.00
higher, quoted mostly from 23.00-24.00; short grain prices were steady; second
heads were steady; brewers were steady. Rice bran was steady; rice hulls were
steady.
