Weakness in CanaryseedWINNIPEG - Sep 1/06 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets were unchanged to easier against improving supplies of new crop product and relatively light end user demand. Efforts by processors to sell product available from growers was not helped by the fact many traders in the United States took a four-day weekend instead of the three-day Labor Day weekend holiday taken by most Canadians. This saw Canadian canaryseed and large caliber confectionary sunflower seed markets ended the week lower; while millet and small caliber confectionary sunflower seed markets were unchanged. Canada's canaryseed harvest was 10% complete at the start of the week and expected to approach 25% in the bin by the end of the weekend.
