Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 11/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A frost warning has been issued for the Mallee, Wimmera, Northern Country, North
Central, Northeast, Western and Central districts.
Weather Pattern
A large high pressure system near Adelaide will move slowly eastwards across
Victoria later today and during Thursday to lie just east of Victoria on Friday.
On Saturday a warm northerly airflow will strengthen over Victoria as a cold
front crosses the Bight. A deep low pressure system should develop south of the
Bight on Sunday.

Tonight and Thursday: Fine apart from isolated showers about the southeast coast
clearing tonight and early morning fog patches in the south. Morning inland
frosts, locally severe, then a mild to warm and mostly sunny day to follow with
light winds tending moderate northerly in the west.  
UV Index: 5 [High] reduced to 2 [moderate] under cloud. 
Friday:    Fine. Early frosts in the east, then mild. Northerly wind freshening
in the west.
Saturday:  Fine, although cloud increasing. Northerly wind strengthening. Mild
to warm.
Sunday:    Rain developing in western and central parts. Strong northerly winds.
Generally warm.
Forecast for Melbourne
Tonight and Thursday
Isolated morning fog and frost patches. A fine and sunny day to follow with
light winds tending northerly.

Fine although cloud increasing. Windy.      Min 10    Max 24

Trend for Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday
Becoming cooler with showers.
Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Thursday: West to southwesterly wind below 10 knots becoming
variable at around 5 knots tonight. Wind tending northerly during the day at 5
to 10 knots with afternoon seabreezes to 10 knots. Waves less than half a metre.
Friday:    Northerly wind to 10 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots by evening.
Saturday:  Northerly winds 15 to 20 knots increasing to 25 to 30 knots during
the day.
Sunday:    Northerly winds of 25 to 35 knots.
Headline Melbourne: Fog patches then fine.
