Australian Livestock Auction Action DropsSYDNEY - Sep 1/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd fell during the past week on declines in sheep, lambs and cattle. Throughput for the week totalled 16,786 sheep and lambs, down from 22,756 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 4,233, compared to 5,874 last week. "Throughputs for the week show an interesting trend . . . The national flock must be at one of its lowest points yet, and with the state of flux in the wool industry what evolves from here will be interesting," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Cattle producers are facing a tough time as last year's spring would have had them in herd rebuilding mode, but now a year on, sales are producing some very nice females which would normally have been kept."
