Beans Unaffected by Canadian NumbersVANCOUVER - Aug 25/06 - SNS -- North American dry edible bean markets were unaffected by the latest Canadian crop production estimates. Statistics Canada does not break out production by class, but it estimated white bean output at 127,700 metric tons (MT) and colored at 203,400 MT. Last year's white bean harvest came in at 117,900 MT and colored beans at 201,100. Ontario remained the most important bean producing region in the country, growing a forecast 78,700 MT of white beans and 64,200 MT of colored. Manitoba is the second largest producers at 49,000 MT of white beans and 61,200 MT of colored. Output in Alberta is forecast at 59,000 MT of colored beans, versus 19,000 MT of all classes in Quebec.
