Field Pea Markets FirmVANCOUVER - Aug 25/06 - SNS -- Canadian field pea markets continued to firm on the week, helped by improving export demand and an unwillingness by growers to rush to market this year's harvest. This is already forcing grower bids in parts of western Canada to around CDN $147 per metric ton (MT) for farmers dressed No 2 or better human consumption peas. Most companies are resisting, trying to hold grower bids closer to $125 MT. But, many growers do not believe bids at that level compensate them for the decline in average yields.
