Australia -- Victoria Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Sep 10/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warnings
A strong wind warning is current for Victorian coastal waters east of Wilsons
Promontory.
A frost warning is current for the Mallee, Wimmera, Western, Northeast, North
Central and Northern Country districts. 
Weather Pattern
A large high pressure system over eastern Bight waters will move slowly
eastwards across Victoria later Wednesday and Thursday to lie just east of
Victoria on Friday. On Saturday a warm northerly airflow will strengthen over
Victoria as a cold front crosses the Bight.

Tonight and Wednesday: Isolated showers near the coast clearing from the west
overnight and tomorrow. Morning frosts, locally severe inland. A cool and partly
cloudy afternoon with moderating west to southwest winds.
UV Index: 4 [High] reduced to 2 [moderate] under cloud. 
Thursday:  Fine. Early frosts, severe inland, then cool to mild and generally
sunny with light winds.
Friday:    Fine. Early frosts in the east, then mild. Light wind tending
moderate northerly.
Saturday:  Fine, although cloud increasing later. Northerly wind strengthening.
Generally warm.

A shower or two overnight and at first in the morning then fine. A partly cloudy
day with a west to southwesterly breeze.

Forecast for Port Phillip and Western Port
Tonight and Wednesday: Southwest wind 10 to 15 knots, locally reaching 20 knots
this evening then easing to 5 to 10 knots by the afternoon.  Waves to 1 metre
abating to half a metre or less tomorrow.
Thursday:  Variable wind to 5 knots tending northerly at 5 to 10 knots.
Afternoon seabreezes to 10 knots.  
Friday:    Northerly wind to 10 knots increasing to 15 to 20 knots by evening.
Saturday:  Northerly winds 15 to 20 knots increasing to 25 to 30 knots during
the day.
Headline Melbourne: Becoming fine.
