Heavy Rains Slow Myanmar Bean ExportsVANCOUVER - Aug 22/06 - SNS -- India resumed its status of Myanmar's most important export destination for pulses in July, after giving up that position to China in June. The country took for 83% of the 101,574 metric tons (MT) of beans and pulses Myanmar exported in July 2006. Matpe accounted for 52% of the total exports, followed by 30% for Toor Whole and 10% for Mung beans. Export of beans and pulses to China through border trade dropped due to the government's strict control at Muse township, a border town nearby China, because roads were badly damaged by heavy rains. The rains also caused significant damage to the rainy season Mung bean crop, but there are no loss estimates. Subscribers can read the full text of the article by Clicking here
