USDA Donates Lentils To Sri LankaWASHINGTON - Aug 19/06 - SNS -- The USDA will donate 7,320 metric tons (MT) of lentils to Humpty Dumpty Institute (HDI), a private voluntary organization, for use in Sri Lanka. HDI will sell the lentils in Sri Lanka and use the proceeds for landmine clearance in either Jaffna or Anjuradhapura, and to develop a dairy and livestock program. The donation will be made under USDA's Food for Progress program, administered by the Foreign Agricultural Service. The supply period for this donation is fiscal year 2006.
