USDA Buys for 1,560 MT BeansKANSAS CITY - Aug 18/06 - SNS -- The USDA's Commodity Credit Corporation office here confirmed the purchase of 1,560 metric tons (MT) of dry edible beans for prepositioning at Gulf ports for use in food aid programs. In reporting results of USDA PL-480 food aid tender invitation 086C, the USDA said, "Offers for 210 MT of black beans and 140 MT of dark red kidney beans were rejected due to price. There were no responsive offers for 110 MT." In the end the USDA bought 980 MT of black beans and 560 MT of dark red kidney beans packed in 50 kg bags for shipment from inland plants between September 6 and 20 or from plants located at the port between September 21 and October 5.
