New Zealand Livestock and Wool Market SummaryWASHINGTON - Sep 9/02 - STAT -- The latest weekly summary of New Zealand's beef, lamb and wool markets was released by the USDA today. Discussing beef markets, the USDA reports Beef: The U.S. beef market is usually sluggish the week after Labor Day, but last week was particularly bad, with New Zealand's U.S. beef trade grinding to a halt. Prices for both imported and domestic manufacturing beef were down at least 3-4 cents per pound, but hard to get an accurate market trend because trade was so thin. Prime cut prices did improve some in Asia and in New Zealand and coupled with a weaker New Zealand$, the Agri-Fax prime market indicators held firm but cow & bull indicators fell 5c and 11c/kg respectively. Looking at lamb markets, the USDA reports Lamb: Information not available this week. The subscriber version of the article is available by Clicking here
