title:WASHINGTON - Aug 14/06 - SNS -- Turkey hatchery activity picked up its pace in July, led by a 4% rise in the number of poults placed. In its klatest repoort, the USDA said, Turkey eggs in incubators on August 1, 2006, in the United States totaled 30.7 million, up 1% from August 1 a year ago. Eggs in incubators were down 5% from the July 1, 2006 total of 32.2 million eggs. Regional changes from the previous year were: East North Central up slightly at 4,876,000 eggs; West North Central up 3% at 11,941,000; North and South Atlantic up 2% at 9,352,000; and South Central and West combined, down 4% at 4.521,000 eggs in incubators.
