New Crop Field Peas Start MovingVANCOUVER - Aug 11/06 - SNS -- New crop field pea became more readily available during the week as product which had been delivered to processors started emerging from plants. Harvest is nearing completion in the U.S. Pacific Northwest and making good progress in the U.S. midwest and southern Saskatchewan. Yields were affected by this year's hot and dry growing conditions, with growers as a group looking at no better than long-term average yields in the primary growing areas. Showers over the weekend are expected to slow harvest activity in Saskatchewan, and raising some concern about the potential for quality to be affected on some mature crops.
