Australia -- Queensland Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Sep 6/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Queensland was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. IDQ1070001 WARNING SUMMARY No warnings. STATE FORECAST for Saturday Fine over most of the state. A few showers developing about the far north tropical coast and Cape York Peninsula. Isolated showers or thunderstorms in the southeast clearing offshore overnight. Moderate to fresh N/NW winds over most of the interior and the south coast ahead of a moderate southerly change. EXTENDED OUTLOOK Most of Queensland can expect a spell of fine weather from Sunday into the early days of the new week as a high develops over the Bight and then moves slowly across southeast Australia. Showers in the northern tropics will contract to Cape York Peninsula during Sunday and remain in that area for the following few days. Initially days will be mild to warm over most of the interior with cool nights. However, conditions will become hot to very hot in the west of the state by midweek as winds turn northerly ahead of a trough approaching across central Australia.
