Record Field Pea Clearances in 2005-06VANCOUVER - Aug 10/06 - SNS -- Canadian exporters scored an unofficial export record across the 2005-06 marketing year, with clearances of all specialty crops through bulk terminals reporting to the Canadian Ports Clearance Association up sharply over previous years. All the increase is in field peas, with massive increases in the volume shipped through Thunder Bay and West Coast ports more than offsetting the impact of a relatively slow season for other specialty crops moving through reporting terminals. It is important to approach these numbers with caution because they do not represent the full picture of Canadian specialty crop exports and for crops other than field peas only include a small part of actual export movement.
