Australia -- Victoria Weather UpdateMELBOURNE - Sep 6/02 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of Western Australia was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology. Warnings A Gale warning is current for all Victorian coastal waters. Strong wind warnings are current for Port Phillip and Western Port and for the Gippsland Lakes. Weather Pattern Windy conditions will continue in Victoria for the next few days but moderation is expected early next week. A cold front will cross the state overnight and Saturday followed by another late Sunday into Monday. A ridge of high pressure will then develop over the Bight on Monday with a high centre moving near Victoria by late Tuesday. Victoria Tonight and Saturday: Scattered showers extending from the southwest overnight, mainly on and south of the ranges. Strengthening northwest winds shifting cooler, gusty west to southwest. UV Index: 4 [High] reduced to 2 [moderate] under cloud. Sunday: Isolated showers, mostly contracting to the coast, and in the southwest later. Cool to mild. Monday: Scattered showers extending from the west, mainly on and south of the ranges with isolated hail. Highland snowfalls developing. Windy. Becoming colder.
