Lentils Continue Transition to New CropVANCOUVER - Aug 4/06 - SNS -- International lentil markets are working on the transition from old to new crop, with limited harvest progress reported in both the United States and Canada. Even so, some processors continue to offer 2005 crop green lentils at severe discounts to new crop, discouraging buyers from stepping into markets. More importantly, processors in the United States sold the USDA 2,540 metric tons (MT) of lentils during the week at U.S. $12.23 per 100 pounds (cwt) on a delivered Gulf ports basis or around $9.50 on an FOB shipping point basis.
