Australian Livestock Auction Action ImprovesSYDNEY - Aug 4/06 - SNS -- Livestock sold through online auctions managed by AuctionsPlus Pty Ltd increased during the past week as solid gains in cattle sales offset a decline in sheep and lamb. Throughput for the week totalled 20,341 sheep and lambs, down from 22,210 head the previous week. The number of cattle put through the company's auctions totalled 3,219, compared to 800 last week. "Throughputs for the week were excellent, sheep and lambs came in at 20,341, which for the time of year and seasonal conditions is good," AuctionsPlus's Dean Lemmich said. "Numbers were largely from Queensland and Tasmania and it's marvelous to see Northern Queensland sheep in such great condition again -- it's been awhile!"
