Mixed Fundamental News for PulsesVANCOUVER - Aug 1/06 - SNS -- Pulse markets received mixed news about crop conditions around the world, with problems persisting in Australia and yields under pressure in Canada; while India's monsoon appears to improving. The news from Saskatchewan was supportive of markets, pointing to a slightly smaller than expect harvest for the province and the potential Canadian field pea production will end up closer to 2.9 million metric tons (MT) than 3 million, down almost 200,000 MT from last year. The provincial agriculture department is also looking for slightly below average lentil yields, suggesting western Canadian production may end up around 721,000 MT, down from current thoughts of a 779,000 MT harvest and well below last year's record 1.28 million MT result. Chickpea output could be somewhat higher than initially thought, perhaps ending up around 160,000 MT in western Canada, up from 103,900 last year and just ahead of industry forecasts of a 154,000 MT result.
