Australia -- New South Wales Weather Update

MELBOURNE - Aug 1/06 - SNS -- The current forecast for the state of New South Wales was released by Australia's Bureau of Meteorology.

Warning Summary:
Strong wind warning for coastal waters south of Montague Island. Minor flood
warning for the Paroo River.
Current Weather Situation and Future Developments:
A  high over western New South Wales is moving east. A cold front will reach the
far southwest of the state later this evening and then move through the state on
Thursday as the high moves over the western Tasman Sea and weakens. Another high
wIll move towards Bass Strait on Friday extending a  ridge across southern
Tasman Sea and a trough will form along the New South Wales coast. The trough is
expected to deepen on Saturday.
Forecast for Wednesday
Patchy rain or isolated showers developing in the southwest. Early frost on the
slopes and ranges. Fine elsewhere although increasing high cloud. Cool to mild
day. North to northwest winds freshening ahead of an overnight southwest change
in the southwest.
Forecast for Thursday
Patchy rain or isolated showers mostly on and west of the ranges. Mild in the
far northeast with northeast to northwest winds. Cool to mild in the remainder
with south southeast winds.
Forecast for Friday
Patchy rain or scattered showers over the eastern half of the state; snow
showers on the Alps. Fine in the west. Cool. South to southeast winds,
freshening on the coast.
Forecast for Saturday
Patchy rain or isolated showers in the eastern half of the state, snow showers
on the Alps. Fine in the west. Cool. South to southeast winds.
