Weather Lifts CanaryseedVANCOUVER- Jul 28/06 - SNS -- Birdseed ingredient markets continued to strength during the past week against fears about the impact recent weather conditions will have on yields. This is especially true of canaryseed, which does not perform well under drought conditions. While grower bids are unchanged on the week in both current and new crop shipping positions, inter-dealer markets advanced U.S. 75 cents per 100 pounds (cwt) on spot markets $1 cwt in new crop shipping positions. This reflects a growing expectation grower bids will need to advance in the low to mid teens in order to attract selling, unless yields end up significantly higher than currently seems to be the case.
